🪖 FOB MIRAGE — Description

FOB Mirage is a fortified forward operating base built into a rugged mountainous and desert environment. The position is surrounded by steep rock formations, providing natural protection and making the base difficult to approach from the surrounding terrain.

The FOB is centered around a large elevated concrete platform, creating a secure and organized operational area above the surrounding desert.

🏗️ Main Facilities

• Three marked helicopter landing pads are positioned on the western side of the compound, providing dedicated areas for helicopter operations and rapid deployment.
• Several military tents and covered shelters are arranged around the main platform, likely serving as accommodation, storage, or logistical areas.
• A large central elevated structure dominates the middle of the FOB and could serve as a command, observation, or communications facility.
• Additional green military shelters are positioned on both sides of the compound for equipment, personnel, or supplies.
• A large open concrete area occupies the eastern side, providing space for vehicle staging, logistics, or other operational activities.
• Multiple watchtowers are positioned around the perimeter, giving personnel elevated observation points over the surrounding terrain.
• The base has a controlled entrance on the southeastern side, connected to a dirt road winding through the mountains.

🛡️ Defensive Position

The location of FOB Mirage is one of its greatest advantages. The surrounding steep cliffs and rocky mountains act as a natural defensive barrier, limiting possible approaches to a small number of accessible routes.

The elevated perimeter provides clear visibility over the desert and surrounding mountain passes, while the watchtowers allow personnel to monitor the main access roads and nearby terrain.

🚁 Aviation & Logistics

The presence of three dedicated helicopter pads makes FOB Mirage particularly suited for airborne logistics, troop transport, medical evacuation, and rapid-response operations.

The large open staging area on the eastern side also provides additional space for vehicles, supplies, and temporary operational equipment.

🌄 Environment

FOB Mirage is surrounded by a dramatic rocky mountain landscape, with narrow dirt roads, sparse vegetation, and large exposed rock formations. The combination of the elevated compound and surrounding cliffs gives the FOB a highly defensible and isolated appearance.
